I always recommend that the student becomes proficient on the three main areas of percussion (snare drum, timpani and mallets).

Topics to be covered include:

  • Reading
  • Improvisation
  • Ensemble Playing
  • Sight Reading
  • Music Theory
  • Ability to follow conductor and/or play with a click track
